About Nortech : Our People

< BACK : NEXT >

After its customers and market franchises, Nortech's prime assets are its people and allied intellectual properties. The need in fast developing electronic markets for constant innovation and lateral problem solving requires a scarce resource of employees with cutting-edge expertise to direct and nurture the future of the company and its customers. It is deliberate management policy to create a stimulating and productive environment to attract and retain such people and foster an ethos of delivery to customer needs.

To this end the company has invested time and money in regular and continuous technical and business training for its employees, customers and users. This is also being done in a way to redress previous inadequacies and disparities in capable employees' backgrounds. This includes liaison with universities and technical colleges to provide students and prospective employees with practical experience. The company wishes to be as diverse as possible in its make up in keeping with its international custom, believing this leads to better understanding and problem solving. Incentive schemes have been introduced at all levels to ensure delivery of desired outputs for customers and all other stakeholders. More important though is the creation of an ambience of trust, transparency, shared values and clear strategy that enables everyone to pursue and contribute towards shared goals.

Nortech International has a direct staff complement of over 100 people comprising:

  • A stable executive and senior management team
  • A strong team of electronic and software engineers
  • A very willing and stable technically trained production workforce
  • A small & competent general staff and logistics team

These are supported by 21 technically competent and mostly long standing distributors and agents and their teams around the world.

The company is constantly on the lookout for top electronic and software engineering personnel from anywhere in the world, but is a fierce protagonist of its Pietermaritzburg location (an emerging Silicon City), which is in close proximity to other electronic development and manufacturing operations, and which provides big city benefits without the tensions, delays and traffic hassles that characterize the world's metropolises. The location is particularly well suited to the company's predominantly export business being close to harbours and international airports and on the highway between the country's major cities. In addition the location is close to entertainment venues, mountains, the sea, beaches and game parks to provide for the recreation and relaxation of its people. Pietermartizburg is the focus of a number of famous international sporting events including the Comrades Marathon, the Duzi Canoe Marathon and the Midmar Mile.
